Guit is a funny animal

Carl's nana called this morning. I was still in bed and Carl was running around trying to get Aubrey ready for school. Talk about role reversal! heh Anyway, I answered the phone because he didn't get to it quick enough and Nana was surprised that I was still in bed. I explained that Carl takes Aubrey to school and she was cool with that.

She called to let us know that there's some kind of festival in her town and she wanted us to come. I really hate it when Nana asks us to do something and we aren't able to go. It seems that every time she's asked us, Aubrey has had something or another going on. She has a football game to cheer at on Saturday. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but this week her game is at 2:00 and Nana lives about 3 hours away. *sigh* The guilt. But to her credit she didn't load on the grandparent guilt.

Nana also told us that Carl's cousin had a friend commit suicide last week. I know very well the amount of guilt and suffering that those left behind feel. Carl's cousin is the sweetest girl. She came home from college and found out about her friend. Apparently they were supposed to go out while she was home from school. That kind of guilt... the guilt you feel about wondering if there's anything you could have done... that kind of guilt lasts a lifetime.
